Exploring Money Issues With YouTube

1 April 2009, 16:08

YouTube is the site to go to when you want to watch a video on something – pretty much anything in fact.  But you may not think about it as being the ideal site to visit when you have currency matters on your mind.

That's a shame because YouTube has a lot to offer in this department - thanks to its dedicated band of members who have all uploaded many different videos on all kinds of matters pertaining to currency over the years.  If you want to see a frivolous approach to money, you've got it.  If you would prefer some real knowledge and insight that you may not be able to get elsewhere, you will be able to find that too.  And if you want to use YouTube as a springboard to finding other worthwhile websites across the web, then you can even put it to good use in that sense as well.

The best way to start using YouTube to find out some currency information is to use the search box to start looking for what's out there.  It's important to remember here that entering different words will return altogether different videos, depending on how good people are at adding keywords to the videos they upload.

For example, if you type in the words 'money issues' you will get personal insights into people's money issues, but you will also find videos of really outstanding quality, like the one uploaded by CBS (yes, THAT CBS) which features the famous money expert Alvin Hall talking about money and how to manage it.  It doesn't matter which currency you deal with in your country, you will find Alvin's advice and experience invaluable – especially in these times when we are all facing an uphill struggle to get by as prices continue to rise.

You can see this particular video at http://www.youtube.com, but there are other videos featuring Alvin's sage advice too, so watch out for them.

Of course, if you want advice on more specific monetary topics YouTube also has its fair share of people who know what they're talking about.  A good example is to search for information on the Forex (foreign exchange) markets and how to deal in them.  This kind of search will return a lot of results – some better than others – but all dedicated to helping you understand how the market works and how you can get started trading successfully.

The best videos in this department are the ones which don't try to teach you everything in one hit.  Look for those members who have plenty of shorter videos on offer for you to watch; for example they might be six or seven minutes long so you can watch and digest them easily, but not get overwhelmed by what you are trying to learn.  You should also stay alert for website addresses which often appear in the videos themselves, as these can lead you to other sources of financial and Forex based information.

In short, YouTube may not be the first place you'd think of to learn things about financial topics, but it's actually a great place to start because you have a lot of content from a lot of diverse people that can help you forge ahead and strengthen what you already know.
