This week would turn up some interesting results for the British pound. But would they be good or bad for its standing against other currencies? We would soon find out.

This felt like a week where the British currency was treading water. We had the odd piece of good news here, and some bad news there. But there was no real pattern or direction to any of it, it seemed.

Sometimes it’s hard to gauge whether a week will be good or bad. This week, we got a pleasant surprise when we saw how the British pound had performed.

It is rare to come across a good week for the pound at present. This week showed once again how challenging it is for the pound to do well, so would we have all bad results here or something different?

Sometimes, a week of trading can start in the worst-possible fashion, yet finish in a very different manner. This week we would see how this could happen, as it did for the British pound.

After some hard times, the pound did better this week – mainly due to the outcome of a court case regarding the Government’s ability to push through the Brexit vote. Drama ensued on all counts.

The day-to-day workings of the currency markets are always hard to fathom. But would the British pound manage to put together a more encouraging performance early on this week?

We should perhaps know the pattern by now. We were certainly going to be ready for some more hard work for the British pound, but would any work be enough?

Last week we saw how low the British pound could go on the currency markets. The real question now was whether it could go any lower, or whether it would start to claw back some of the previous losses we’d seen.
