Go Currency

Go Currency sounds like a bright and breezy site, and when you arrive on the home page you will see that this is certainly the case.

The website itself offers none of the actual currency trading offered by some sites, although there is information in the relevant sections.  This is a simple currency conversion site, with relevant news articles to keep visitors abreast of the current issues.

The fresh layout also counts very firmly in its favour, since some of these websites dealing in currency can be rather busy and confusing to look at.  You’ll soon be drawn into finding out exactly what it has to offer.

Take me to the site!  How do I get there?

Okay, you can get there by typing www.gocurrency.com into your address bar.  That’s all there is to it!  You don’t even need to go further than the home page to get access to some of the site’s features, which makes it all the more appealing in many ways.

What does the site offer?

A surprising amount of things would be the answer to that.  As you can see from the top of the site, there are several sections to browse around when you arrive.  But even the main page has plenty to get your teeth into.

There is a basic exchange rate table to look at for starters, and you can add this to your own website if you wish.  Historic rates are also available – just look at the small link underneath that exchange rate chart to see how this works.  And as you might expect, you will also find the currency converter on the main page – although you might be surprised to see it as a small box tucked over on the left hand side.

There are some good articles and useful bits and pieces for those wanting to get involved in Forex trading in the currency trading section.  And if you pay a visit to traveller’s corner, you will be able to read some more useful and fascinating articles about travelling abroad to various destinations.

What is their currency converter like?

In a nice touch missing from many other currency conversion sites, Go Currency allows you to add their currency converter to your site.  If you need a currency converter to jazz up your own pages, then you may want to take a closer look at this.

It is also one of the most simple currency converters you'll ever see.  All you need to do is put in the amount that you wish to convert (without any currency symbol, such as $, just the amount only) into the box marked “amount”.  If you just want to see the exchange rates then leave this amount blank.

Then select the currency you would like to convert from using the “From” drop-down list and the currency you'd like to convert to using the “To” drop-down list.
Almost every one of them comes with their country designation (e.g. US dollar) but none of them appear with their three letter international currency code, for example USD for US dollar.

If you choose a conversion from Chinese Yuan to Suriname Dollar for example, you will get the current exchange rate, but not the inverse rate.  There is a “cross rate” result on the same page, but it is not performed for the amount you have entered.  If you want to know the inverse rate as well for our example, you have to perform a separate search in order to know how a specific amount converts.

There is a nice graph that shows how the currencies have moved relative to each other that stretches back for the last five weeks or so.  This is good for showing current trends.

Supposing I need some help and advice – can they help me with that?

Yes, they certainly can.  Your best bet is to go right down to the bottom of the website to take a look at the FAQ section for starters.  It tells you more about the site than anything else, but it does provide some useful background information.

Take a look at the site map as well, as all the separate areas of the website are very well laid out here so if you are struggling to find something you won’t go astray here.  You’ll notice a huge list of articles and currencies – listed by country – here, that you may not have easily found another way too.

And right in the top right hand corner of the website you will also see a small link that you could easily overlook.  This is the ‘contact us’ link that it is always good to know about.  Clicking on that gives you two email addresses to bear in mind.  One of them is the best one to go to if you need some kind of technical help, while the other is good for any other situation regarding the website.  So if you are struggling to use their currency converter or integrating it into your own website, you should use that email address.

In short, they are contactable and you should be able to get all the answers you need.

In conclusion

All in all, the simplicity of the website and the conversion tool itself are very appealing.  It is also very easy to use, which means that many people can arrive on the site and be working out sums and exchange rates in no time at all.  For that reason alone, we give this site the thumbs up.

Another reason the site is so well received is the fact that they include more information than other sites feel the need to.  In this respect they serve far more people in a better fashion – making the site a must see all in all.

Rating (out of five stars)

Simplicity will always get a high rating from us, especially when the subject can be rather confusing at times.  That’s why we are giving Go Currency four out of five stars.
