ICCFX
This site certainly gives you a lot of food for thought the second you arrive on the home page. It is simple and effective enough to allow you to perform a simple currency transaction if you need to do so, but it can offer a lot more than this as well. It effectively provides a suite of tools that will be of use to the average Forex trader as well.
The ICC stands for International Currency Converter, with the FX meaning Forex of course. So this is a good name for a worthwhile site. And if you are ready to explore the site in depth, let’s get ready to do just that.
Take me to the site! How do I get there?
As is common with many websites, the home page is easy enough to remember. You just need to go to www.iccfx.com. You will find everything you need from there.
What does the site offer?
There is a huge amount of data and information available on this site. Don’t worry if you find it a lot to take in at first, because you will eventually get the hang of where everything is and narrow everything down to the few benefits you personally will get from the site.
Historical data can be called up in graph form. Unfortunately the graph has neither X or Y data listed on its axes. The trend is clearly visible as a line graph, but you wouldn’t be able to read key information from the graph, for example when the exchange rate was at a specific value. You can’t cut and paste the data into a spreadsheet, but it is still extremely useful for various uses.
The Daily Currency Table displays twenty currencies at a time. For several cross rates historical data is available from this table by clicking in the history column. If none is available, it says n/a in the history column.
Iccfx displays the flag of the country or territory in question. It also shows the currency's full name, the three letter currency code (e.g. “GBP” for pound sterling), and the cross rates e.g. GBP to USD and USD to GBP so that you can see how a trade would look in either direction.
One of the big things about this Forex site though is the fact that it can convert to WAP. This means that you can have access to Forex data on your mobile phone if you wish, when you are away from your computer. The function is available without any annoying advertising, and comprises of just three steps to make the conversion work. This kind of thing will become less useful as 3G (and more advanced protocols) becomes more widespread, but it is still useful.
Also of interest is the Forex news section, which contains up to date news items that may help you when deciding which trades to make at any point. It’s worth checking back with the site regularly since there are a number of news stories made and added to the site every single day.
What is their currency converter like?
Converting currencies of any kind is very straight-forward. The page is a little busy, but the currency converter is near the top, above the table of cross rates.
Each currency is listed with their country and currency name, along with their three letter international currency code.
The converter is easy to use, but it is set up the opposite way round from almost every other calculator. You start by entering the currency you wish to convert “to”, rather than the currency you wish to convert “from”. This means that if you were converting from USD to GBP you would start by entering GBP in the first box marked “I need the value in”.
The next step is to choose the quantity of the source currency. You enter this in the box marked “for”. So if you were converting $186 US dollars into British pounds then this is the box where you would enter the number 186.
Finally make sure you select the destination currency from the last remaining drop-down list and click on convert. The results display conversions in both directions. This means you will see £186 GBP in USD and $186 USD in GBP. Unfortunately it does not publish the rates used to calculate these results.
Supposing I need some help and advice – can they help me with that?
Under the ‘extra’ link near the top of the page you will find an option to contact the webmaster. There is nothing but an email address under this section, but that is all you need to get in touch with them when you need to.
Also under the ‘extra’ section there is a link called ‘legal notice’. This is worth reading as it gives one or two more pointers about the site as a whole. But again there is very little here – the email address is your best point of contact should you need it for any reason.
In conclusion
ICCFX may not be the most well known of sites in the world. But if you have a need to know all about the Forex markets and you want up to date information to go on, you should come here.
The neat touches such as the scrolling exchange rates across the top of the screen are what separate it from its rivals. And that is why we vote for this as one of the best Forex focused sites out there today.
Oh and one other point – you can also opt to see the website in Dutch if you need to! Not every website is available in more than one language so this is another bonus point too.
Rating (out of five stars)
We are going to give this site four stars out of five. It loses one star purely through being very ‘busy’ and a little overwhelming for newbies, but as we know, if you hang in there you can benefit from the array of benefits it offers.
