That week did at least finish on a slightly better and healthier note, as the pound managed to drag itself back up to a more respectable 1.5296 for the week’s end. But where would we go now and how would we progress through the second half of the month?

When September came to an end the British pound was producing an exchange rate of 1.6361 against the Australian dollar. Hopefully we would be able to produce better figures than this as we progressed through October on the currency converter, but it remained to be seen whether this would actually be the case.

One of the most interesting currency pairings to look at is always the British pound versus the Euro. If you have been watching the currency converter lately you will know the two have been tussling for a while now. Just when you think one of them has got the edge over the other one, it swings back in the opposite direction.

Whenever you look at the currency performance of the British pound against any other currency you choose, you always want the pound to start from a position of strength. At least then you can hope for it to continue. If it starts from a position of weakness you will see that it has a mountain to climb before it can even begin to show strength.

If you have been keeping up with the news recently you may have heard that one of the major UK currency exchange services has gone into administration. The company is known as the Crown Currency Exchange and it was run by a husband and wife team in Cornwall. It was one of the biggest companies of its kind in the sector, and its demise has shaken the foundations of the online currency business.

We know that the recent weeks have not been good for the British pound. Now, as we take a fresh monthly look at how it has performed on the currency converter, it is time to see whether it had anything to show against the yen. The Japanese yen may well have more to show for itself than the pound at this point in time. But let’s see what actually happened as we focus in on the events of August.

Its value has dropped in many places and that’s why we are going to take a closer look at the head to head between the British pound and three other currencies this month.

Sometimes with certain currency pairings you will see lots of little movements up and down, to and fro, throughout the month. This was the case with these two currencies as we progressed to the 13th, when the British pound closed out the day with a rate of 71.029. Just a small increase, but it went in our favour nonetheless.
