Last time we had a strong week against the US dollar, achieving a rate of 1.5820 by the close of play. A slight dip to 1.5723 kicked the week off before we recovered to 1.5831 the next day.

We didn’t do that well against the US dollar last time around, finishing on 1.5620 at the end of the day. But we saw a slight improvement on day one of the new week, with the British pound climbing back to 1.5675. Could we improve on it though?

The opening rate we have to play with against the US dollar is 1.5656, but our first day of play saw the US dollar beating the pound and pushing it back to 1.5575. We dropped back again on day two but then increased our position to 1.5626 instead.

The opening rate for the pound versus the US dollar this time around was 1.5989. If we wanted a positive start we didn’t get it as we immediately dipped to 1.5963 on Monday evening. By Wednesday we had slipped even further to 1.5808 and there were more dips to come too, as we realized we were completely at the mercy of the dollar.

Last time we had a rocky journey against the US dollar, leaving ourselves slightly lower on 1.6117 at the end of the week. The early news wasn’t good as we dipped to 1.6070 on Monday evening. It was worse still the following day as we fell back to 1.5995. Was this the way the week would pan out?

Onto the Euro now, where we last left the pound on 1.1522. Here the picture seemed a little different to the one we saw in the US, as we climbed to 1.1591 on Monday night and never looked back. A strong performance by the pound saw it soar to 1.1777 by Thursday evening.

The new week (and the new month of course) couldn’t have started on a better note. The pound soared over the 1.60 mark on Monday evening, ending on 1.6066. The high point was 1.6263 on Thursday, but even though it dropped to 1.6227 by the end of the week, this was still good news for us, no doubt.

1.5703 – that was the closing rate for the pound last Friday against the US dollar. But when the curtain went down on Monday night we’d crept up marginally to 1.5720. Luckily other increases were also on the way, with 1.5865 reached the very next day.

As soon as Monday was over it had gone down to 1.5886, and after another two days things were worse still. By Wednesday evening the pound had slipped to 1.5715 instead. It didn’t even seem to have anything at all to fight with this time, finishing miserably on 1.5703 on Friday as a result.

We started the week on a promising note as we pushed up to 1.5934 on Monday evening. But the following two days saw us fall back and lose that momentum. It was looking like it would be another poor week but this time the pound had other things in mind. A strong finish saw the pound achieve a new high of 1.6055 on Friday night.
