It seems as if some currencies are doing rather better than others in all the uncertainty that is flooding the currency markets at the moment, and one of the best winners of all seems to be the yen.

The British pound seemed to be starting to fight back and actually achieved some good results that week.

With every week that has gone by, we've become more nervous of what the pound will do next, as its performance in recent times has been less than satisfactory.

It seems almost certain that the UK is going to have a recession, although no one seems quite sure exactly when it will happen.

Last week's figures were notable for just one thing as far as the British pound was concerned – they brought nothing but bad news for our currency as the ever worsening situation of the economy had a marked effect on the exchange rates.

It seemed as if last week's report was filled with nothing but bad news for the pound. With plummeting exchange rates not going anywhere in our favour, we were left wondering whether the pound could sink any lower against the major currencies around the world.

Last week we saw clear evidence that the British pound was struggling when it went up against a number of other currencies from all over the world.

It's always interesting to see whether the British pound can put up a reasonable fight against the US dollar, and in recent weeks it has certainly had its moments.

Last week was another good one as the pound stood up to the US dollar and more than held its own, so we were looking to the end of July to see whether things would continue in that vein or whether they would start to go in the opposite direction.

We have seen in previous weeks that the pound has been standing up well against some other major currencies around the world at times, while at others it seems as if nothing can keep it from tumbling.
